Our Story

THE CAMPBELL FARM is located on the Yakama Indian Reservation in Wapato WA. It was owned and operated by the Campbell Family for most of this century.

In 1978, Nellie Campbell willed the 40-acre farm to the Central Washington Presbytery. Since that time, the farm has been a part of the larger family of Christ. The facilities historic buildings and warm, country atmosphere, make The Campbell Farm a true gem in the Presbyterian "family" of conference and retreat centers.

The farm is currently part of the Northwest Coast Presbytery.The Campbell Farm has been a place for theological reflection, worship, a meeting place, a conference and retreat center, a place for family reunions, youth enhancement, and much more. Farming has always been central to the purpose of The Campbell Farm as it sought to interpret issues of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship through “hands on” work on the farm.

MODEL THE JUST AND PEACEABLE KINGDOM OF GOD

The Campbell Farm is a crossroads in which all are welcome to come sit at Christ's table. As a small conference and retreat center we provide opportunities for a diversity of people, churches, and organizations to get to know each other; dialogue on issues of local and global concern and take action for peace and justice. Many groups do their own programming and use this beautiful setting for board meetings, luncheons, conferences, trainings retreats, and worship. A year-round community of mission staff and volunteers lives on the farm and shares in the work of hosting groups, ministering to the community, and caring for the land.

BE GOOD STEWARDS OF GOD'S CREATION

Mindful of the hospitality of God and the First People of this land, we seek to be good stewards. We seek to worship through the arts and develop our own creativity in the use of appropriate technology. We seek to serve locally grown food, recycle, compost, and reduce waste. Groups learn and serve by caring for gardens and animals, preparing meals, preserving food and participating in larger projects on the farm.

HEAL EMPOWER AND EQUIP GOD'S PEOPLE BY THE HOLD SPIRIT

We are a place of mission. We seek to listen to our neighbors, learn from them and work with them to fulfill the needs of the community. Current programs include Empower Outreach, 6th Grade NASA program, and Summer Camp. Groups come from across the nation to humbly serve and learn. There is plenty of work in the community such as supporting low-income mothers and elderly, building a wheel-chair ramp for the disabled, leading vacation bible school, working with children's recreation programs, and sorting food at a local food bank. Through it all they learn skills to communicate the gospel in this cross-cultural setting.

BE AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST'S RECONCILIATION

As we walk with our neighbors, we seek to build bridges of understanding between multiple cultures. The Yakama Reservation is comprised of a third Native American, a third Hispanic, and a third Caucasian, Asian, and African American.

Executive Director

Dionna Bennett - Pimms

I am of this land, born and raised on the Yakama Indian Reservation. I am a proud mother of 2 children, who's had a hand is raising many. I am married to an amazing tattoo artist. My passion for my community is embedded in my soul. I started out teaching at Head Start, which lead me to changing my educational goal to Social work. I received my BSW from Heritage University. I find joy in reading, running and baking. My mom would always say "When you are called to serve, there is no other qualified than you because God qualifies your call" I was very fortune to work along my mother Carmanita's side as the program director for the past 14 years. After her untimely passing, I stepped into this role as the Executive Director. It is my honor to server my community.

I'm the second daughter of Carmanita and one of the original Campbell Farm kids. I am a mother of two beautiful boys, which is my favorite role in my life. As the creative of the crew, I spend my free time doing art and have a borderline obsession with Harry Potter. My studies have taken me down a variety of paths everything from beauty school to culinary arts, and I still moonlight as a mixologist. Campbell Farm is my forever home and has been a part of my day-to-day life for as long as I can remember. However, I officially joined the team in 2020 to support the project during the pandemic. Stepping in where needed I have supported admin, worked in the office, and currently run coordination of events and projects.

Sarah Mcneley

Hello, my name is Sarah McNeley. I was born in a small town in Oregon and lived on our family ranch. When I was a teenager, my family moved to the Yakima Valley, which was so different from the schools and towns I had lived in before. The Yakima Valley quickly became home, and except for a couple of short years, this Valley has been my home ever since. I have two wonderful kids and a third bonus kid who keeps me busy and makes sure life stays fun! In 2022, we bought a house in Wapato and haven't looked back since. It didn't take long at all for me to feel a strong desire to find a way to make a difference in the lives of so many families across this valley who could use the extra kindness and help. I am excited to be part of The Campbell Farm family and to be involved in making a difference in the lives of the children and families that we can support.
